GrandMaster Updates

The latest release of GrandMaster Suite incorporates a number of changes that make it even easier to use the program and perform your payroll tasks. Some recent changes to the program include:

  • If your payroll employs users with assigned access restrictions, you will now have increased security. To ensure that your payroll users have appropriate access rights for Provincial Health and WCB settings, the system Supervisor must define the users access rights.
  • You may now specify which fields you would like to work with in the Earnings Time Entry dialog box (in the Time Keeping module). This feature facilitates data entry by reducing the number of editable fields and options in this window.

Outsourcing vs. Internet-based Payroll

Has your organization ever discussed the prospect of in-house payroll processing versus outsourcing? If you are involved in payroll processing for your organization, you may be surprised to know that there are many benefits involved with an in-house payroll solution.

With today's user-friendly software tools, many organizations are moving away from payroll outsourcing to in-house processing. Canadian Payroll Systems Inc. (CPS) has developed eNETPayroll -- an Internet-based payroll system that can provide your organization with the perfect balance of in-house control and flexibility. To help demonstrate this concept, CPS offers to dispel some common myths about outsourcing:

  • Outsourcing Saves You Money - Not all of the time. Depending on the size and complexity of a payroll, many employers simply find it easier to outsource. Unfortunately, since many outsourcing companies still require that you perform your own data entry, you're not realizing any savings (and you have performed a bulk of the work). • With eNETPayroll - You perform all of your own data entry and press the calculate button yourself. Your cost-per-cheque is many times lower than standard outsourcing fees, with no minimum or basic charges.
  • Outsourcing Saves You Time - No. The entering of the source data is the most time-consuming task, with the actual calculation of the payroll taking only several minutes. If you are already entering the data in-house, outsourcing means there is no time saved. • With eNETPayroll - You perform the complete processing cycle from anywhere in the world at a time that is convenient to you. If your schedule forces you to perform payroll tasks at off-peak hours, eNETPayroll will accommodate you anytime, anywhere.
  • Outsourcing Frees up Resources - Not really. Outsourcers generally require you to pay for your gross payroll (including statutory deductions) three days prior to payday. In many cases, outsourcers will have access to (and be using) your funds for up to 45 days. With eNETPayroll - You can print cheques, process EFTs and even perform year-end processing. The funds are automatically withdrawn from your bank account, and only after you have performed a service.
  • Outsourcing is Confidential - Not as much as you'd like it to be. Outsourcing demands that you place your trust in others to keep your data secure and confidential. If you've ever had your package dropped off at another company by mistake, you soon realize that confidentiality can easily be compromised. With eNETPayroll - Your data is sent and received over a secure, encrypted network. There are no human interactions with your data -- you simply perform your payroll calculations as you interact with the online database. No one else will ever view or gain access to your confidential information.
  • Outsourcing is Easy and Error Free - No. Outsourcing does not allow you to easily correct errors. Even the simplest of errors can cause either a lengthy delay or extra costs to be incurred. With eNETPayroll - You can view the calculation results at any time. You can instantly correct mistakes or make other adjustments along the way. Such details are taken care of before you print your cheques or send the electronic funds.
  • Outsourcing is a Growing Trend - No. With modern software technologies and the steady advance of Internet based services, it is no longer cost effective or timely to rely on outside sources to perform integral company services. Today, more and more companies are moving towards self-sufficiency and easy access for all of their services. With eNETPayroll - You can perform payroll processing from any location around the world, at any time of the day.
