November, 2002

CPP pensionable earnings ceiling raised for 2003 - The CCRA has announced that the maximum pensionable earnings under the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) for 2003 will be $39,900 - up from $39,100 in 2002. Click here for further details.

Employment insurance (EI) premiums will be reduced by 10 cents to $2.10 in 2003. Click here for further details.

New Brunswick - WHSCC has announced a 9% increase in the average assessement rate charged to employers for 2003. Click here for further details.

Ontario - The WSIB has released the average premium rate for 2003, which will increase by 3 per cent from $2.13 to $2.19 for every $100 of insurable earnings. Click here for further details.

October, 2002

HRDC has announced additional steps to further protect the SIN from fraud and abuse. Effective immediately, HRDC will accept only original identity documents as proof of identity for a SIN and will reduce the number of documents it accepts as proof of identity. Click here for further details.

Manitoba - The WCB of Manitoba has introduced an Online Accident Reporting System -- a secure Internet application providing immediate access to WCB Accident Report forms, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Click here for further details.
